TRIP ADVISOR - DAY SEVEN ๐ŸŒฑ๐ŸŒผ๐Ÿ‚

Day 7 (30/5/2014)

921 Earthquake Educational Park ★★★★☆

I rated this 4/5 because it was really educational place. At the earthquake educational park , we went around looking at exhibits and looked at actual disaster sites at the park. There was also a 3D video on what to do and what NOT to do during an earthquake and it was really real and helpful. It had many interactive displays that allows us to understand the earthquake more. The park was truly educational and I learnt a lot from there.

After this, we took the plane back to Singapore๐Ÿ˜Š.

TRIP ADVISOR - DAY SIX ๐ŸŒด๐ŸŒบ๐ŸŒฟ

We went to sacred hearts early in the morning to attend Chinese, chemistry and home economics lessons๐Ÿด. The lessons were really different and the teachers also made an effort to make sure we understood what he or she was saying and I thought that it was really nice of them๐Ÿ˜Š☺. We got to try out some experiments in the chemistry lesson and improved on our knowledge. Also, the home economics lessons had really nice food ๐Ÿ˜‹๐Ÿ‘and had a greater variety of different food compared to ours. Overall it was a great experience at sacred hearts and I definitely hope to return there.๐Ÿ˜ After that, we went out with out buddies to different places

Xing Long Towel Factory (iicake)

When we entered the door of iicake, all of us have this question in mind, 'is this a cake shop?' Of course later we found out that the answer was 'NO'!!! This is a Towel factory. It is said to be the place that produces the towels in best quality! After enjoying the beautiful exhibitions, we even got the chance to make a towel puppy. It was not as difficult as what we though earlier. Before leaving, we were given free time to walk around the shop and buy some souvenirs. I was the only one who bought real cake hahaha!

Rating: ★★★★★

ไบ‘ๆž—ๅธƒ่ข‹ๆˆ้ฆ†

Trust me. For those who love to watch drama, this is just the place for you! We had learn about puppet shows in CID 1 last year, but this is a completely different experience! Now puppet shows have already improved and evolved to an extremely high level. With the high technology and special effects, the puppets can do almost anything the controller perform. These include tears, perspiration, blood and even movement eyes. After viewing the exhibitions, we went to watch the performance and got to experiencing hand-controlling those puppets!

Rating★★★☆☆

TRIP ADVISOR - DAY FOUR ๐ŸŒธ๐ŸŒท๐ŸŒพ

Day 4 (27/5/2014)

We visited Sacred Hearts High School on the 27th of May. When we reached the school, we were warmly welcomed by the Taiwanese students who displayed wushu, flag performance (they spinned the RV and Sacred Hearts school flag) and orchestra. After we had performed our performances, we were led to a room where they introduced our buddies and had a nice buffet.
After chatting with my buddy, ็Ž‰้™, I found out that Taiwanese do not have much homework on usual school days and only have three exams a year, which means that the education system in taiwan is more relaxed than that in Singapore and is more of ๅฟซไนๆ•™่‚ฒ than ๅบ”่ฏ•ๆ•™่‚ฒ.
Then, we attended a Japanese lesson with the students. The teacher invited students to go up to the front of the classroom to present on a topic they had researched on earlier. This way of teaching is more interesting than that in Singapore where the teacher just gives out worksheets and goes through the questions which is kind of dry. Also, when the students answered questions correctly, the teacher rewarded them with sweets, which motivates students to answer questions more frequently in class and helps them learn more.
After that, we went to a ๅ‡คๆขจ้…ฅๅˆถไฝœๅŽ‚ where we learnt how to make ๅ‡คๆขจ้…ฅ. There was a guide who went through clearly the steps on how to make a ๅ‡คๆขจ้…ฅ, which we made ourselves and got to eat later. She also brought us to a pineapple plantation and introduced us more information on pineapples. Hence I would rate the place 4/5 stars because the tour was rather enjoyable and interactive, it was a good experience. ★★★★☆

Lastly, we visited a local primary school. When we reached, the students started to play violins for us and it was really nice because they were so young yet they learnt how to play the violin for us and play it quite nicely. Then, there was an art gallery and the eloquent young children introduced to us the deep paintings which had been drawn by famous artists like Picasso. The effort the young children had put in to welcome us was really heartwarming.

TRIP ADVISOR -DAY THREE ๐Ÿ€

Day 3

Places that we've went to: ๅ้ผ“ๆ–‡ๅŒ–ๆ‘,Anping Fort and Old Street, Eternal Golden Castle, the Tainan Confucius Temple and the Chihkan Tower.

ๅ้ผ“ๆ–‡ๅŒ–ๆ‘★★★★☆

It was our last day in ๅ้ผ“ๆ–‡ๅŒ–ๆ‘, and hence, we went to a drum lesson where we learnt how to play the drums of various kinds and of all sizes. Shortly after that, we went to a performance performed by professional drum players. We were pleasantly surprised to know that we were given the first few benches, which were mostly for VIPs. As we watched, we could tell that the players were trying their best to give us their best performance and like what they've said, they wanted the tradition of Chinese drums to be passed down from one generation to the next, and it shows how preservation of this tradition was important to them. Quite reluctantly, we left the hotel as we headed to our next location.

Anping Fort and Old Street ★★★★☆

This was our next location, the Anping Fort, and it was relatively grand, and although it has already been built for many years, the structure of this building still remains stable without showing much signs of wreckage. You could see from this that the Taiwanese people took great care of this place with historical value. From Anping Fort, I've learnt that it was built by the Dutch in 1624, and it was originally named "Fort Zeelandia". Also, during the Dutch governance, slaves were brought in, commonly known as "Oo-Kui-a" or "้ป‘้ฌผๅฅด". After exploring the fort, we went to Anping Old Street where we had our lunch, having the opportunity to taste the infamous "ๆฃบๆๆฟ” or "Coffin Bread". We also managed to taste a unique soft drink that we've never tasted before, gaining a marble after we've finished the bottle. (The marble was in the bottle). Under the teacher's permission, we were allowed some time to stroll around, admiring the old streets of Anping.

Eternal Golden Castle ★★★★☆

Thirdly, we went to the Eternal Golden Castle. It was a beautiful place, and an old tunnel was built there. Despite it looking ordinary, much effort was made by many people to finish the process of building this tunnel. It is so strong and stable due to the materials used to secure it together, like an old version of 'cement', and materials used were sticky rice and so on. As we entered the tunnel, what came into our view was this beautiful garden in the middle of the place, the grass lush and green. However, there weren't a museum there of some sort for us to learn more information, which was a pity.

Taiwan Confucius Tower ★★★★☆

I've learnt that it was the first school ever built in Taiwan, and that it was also built by the Ditch during their colonization separately. There was a small museum in the temple, showcasing different uniforms and attire worn by disciples in the temple when attending a festival or when participating in various ceremonies. Other than that, there was also a small booth where papers were given out for you to write what you wanted to achieve for your studies, and after you were done, and had to use a stamp before hanging it up on a small wall. Because this temple was once a school, hence, people come here to write their wishes for their studies, hoping it would come true. It also proves as a popular way to make the temple a popular tourist attraction.

Chihkan Tower ★★★☆☆

This was the last historical place we visited in Day Three. It was also a place where scholars could put their certificates in this temple as they hoped to enter into the university they wanted to get in. Many people believed that the God existing in that temple was the God that would help the students in improving their studies and helping them to achieve their goals. Thus, this was the reason why many students went to this place. Also, since it was built quite a long time ago, the whole building was refurnished several times, and the stairs were still slightly creaky, giving us the chills as we went up from one level to the next, but yet leaving us feeling excited too. We left the place a little while after the tour guide finished what he'd wanted to say.

Taishinu Hotel ★★★☆☆

We went to this hotel at the end of the day, and since we only arrived there, I couldn't say much about it except for that fact that the rooms were relatively clean, except for several bugs found in my friends' rooms. For our rooms, our rooms were spacious enough as compared to the others whose rooms were way smaller than ours. However, we had a small bathroom and it was triangular-shaped, making it smaller than it looks. Everything was provided there but the bad things was that the lights would sometimes flicker off by itself. But overall, it was comfortable for me to stay in.

TRIP ADVISOR-DAY TWO๐Ÿƒ๐ŸŒธ

Meinong Hakka Culture Museum ★★★★☆

So on the 25th of May, we went to ็พŽๆต“ๅฎขๅฎถๆ–‡็‰ฉ้ฆ†. I would rate it 4/5 stars. The museum exhibited the history of Hakka people in Taiwan, traditional Hakka items like oil paper umbrella and the culture of Hakka people. There was also an interactive station, whereby the sounds of five different Hakka accents was played out with the push of a button. Hence, I found it rather enriching and well displayed.
But it would be more visitor friendly if the museum installed a lift, because elderly people would have difficulty going up the stairs to look at exhibits on higher levels ๐Ÿ˜ž  However, the trip to the museum was enjoyable and enriching and I learnt more about the history of Hakka people in Taiwan ๐Ÿ˜Š
People respect words a lot thus this picture above^

็พŽๆต“ๅฎขๅฎถๆ‘ ★★★★★

After going to ็พŽๆต“ๅฎขๅฎถๆ–‡็‰ฉ้ฆ†, we went to ็พŽๆต“ๅฎขๅฎถๆ‘, where we explored the different stalls selling traditional Hakka items and food/drink. I would rate it 5/5 stars. The village sold traditional ๅฎขๅฎถๆ“‚่Œถ which was different from the one sold in Singapore, so this shows that the Hakka people in Taiwan put in effort to preserve their culture. Also, the place was very big and showcased a lot of items, which made the visiting experience pleasant. ๐Ÿ˜ƒ
Souvenirs

Our first lunch in Meinong.

ๅฎขๅฎถๆ“‚่Œถ

Kaohsiung museum of history★★★★★
The information was well displayed with figurines ๐Ÿ˜ฆ that allows us to witness what might have happened during the attack by the Japanese and the guide that explained to us did a great job ๐Ÿ‘as we could understand the story about Taiwan and Japan. Therefore I would rate it as 5.

Kaohsiung Hakka cultural museum ★★★☆☆
Kaohsiung Museum of History and the Kaohsiung Hakka cultural museum were about the same as Meinong Hakka Culture museum as all were about the Hakka culture in the past and as for Kaohsiung museum of history we were told about the Japanese invasion in Taiwan.
However I rate it 3 as I did not really understood what was displayed in there.

The former British Consulate★★☆☆
It was a hot day and we had to climb steps to reach there. Many of us bought ice cream๐Ÿฆ before entering the place.
I would rate the place as 3stars as it was a hot day and it was hard to concentrate on what the guide was saying.

Liuhe Night market ★★★★☆
It was smaller than expected and the variety of food was limited. I heard from another classmate that the hawker 'cheated' their money or something. Nevertheless it was a fun experience and I got to play some shooting the bottles down game. The only regret I had was that I didn't get to try ไธ‘่ฑ†่… which most of us bought to try.

TRIP ADVISOR -DAY ONE ๐Ÿ˜Š๐ŸŒผ๐ŸŒธ

ๅ้ผ“ๆ–‡ๅŒ–ๆ‘★★★★☆

We stayed at ๅ้ผ“ๆ–‡ๅŒ–ๆ‘ from 24-26 May (3D2N). I would rate the hotel 4/5 stars because the room is very cozy and spacious, which makes people feel refreshed. The room was also arranged neatly and was clean, which is another plus point. Lastly, the restaurant was decorated with beautiful artistic pictures and the furniture used there is in the shape of trees, which gives out a peaceful feeling. ๐Ÿ˜ƒ
However, the hotel room floor was rather slippery, so if you wear very slippery socks, you may risk the chance of slipping on the hard wooden floor >< But all in all, ๅ้ผ“ๆ–‡ๅŒ–ๆ‘ was worth staying at and the stay was rather pleasant. ๐Ÿ˜Š
